PvP Warlock Trickery

Ø      Always setup your teleport somewhere that cannot be easily seen (in a bush, behind a tree or some other object).

Ø      Keep an eye on the range of your teleport. You don’t want to get focused (cc’d) and not be able to hit your quick escape.

Ø      If you get focused by ranged class, use your Nether Protection spell immediately (Shadow ward for Aff locks or Spriests).

Ø      If you need an immediate speed boost, summon your teleport – Soulburn - Teleport all at once to get a movement speed boost for 5 seconds. This is very helpful when trying to catch a flag carrier or just to get out of the crowd.

Ø      This is a fun one that I have been using lately, if you have any vanity items (i.e. most of the rare Archeology finds) then use them to confuse the enemy.

Ø      If an enemy DK throws Army of the Dead, use seed of corruption against the Army and watch them drop fast and a nice touch of healing also via Fel Armor.

Ø      Against another Warlock, banish their pet before focusing on the opposing lock.

Ø      Against a Frost Mage, banish the water elemental before focusing on the mage.

Ø      You can quickly use your Fel Flame instant spell to remove enemy totems – or – send your pet after the totems.

Ø      Apply your buffs (Unending Breath and Detect Invisibility) last and a good deal of the time any random dispels, spellsteals or purges will remove these buffs instead of the ones that you really rely on.

Ø      Apply your haste buff to the team member that benefits the most. Duh! If you have 5 healers in WSG, then apply it to the Spriest or other Warlock. If you have one healer, apply it to the restro druid / shaman. Healers with DOT’s get priority.

Ø      If you are in a fight and your team is outnumbered, cycle through the enemy team members and apply as much crowd control as possible. If they have a healer, keep them feared unless your team is trying to focus down the healer (which they should but don’t always do). If your team does focus on the healer, then fear any enemy ranged classes that are not being focused (hunters, mages, locks…)

Ø      If you are low on health and need some time to help heal, fear your opponent and hit them with Siphon Life to return some health. Siphon Life will not break fear immediately and will you time to gain distance and return some health.

Ø      To add some confusion (which can help change a battle) summon your Infernal / Doomguard on top of a group of enemies while you are hidden. I do this when we are looking to take a base, but are outnumbered. If you start the battle with something that the enemy is not expecting, then you have a much better chance of success.

Ø      You can use the Savory Delicate Delight to mask your armor (your appearance changes to a pirate). Again, this masks your armor and will take most players a few seconds longer to recognize your class / spec.

Ø      Never ride your Dreadsteed when in battlegrounds. This is a immediate giveaway to the enemy that you are a Warlock.

Ø      Always use a Felhunter against a ranged magic class (i.e. Mages, Shadow Priests). The pups ability to spell lock is a game changer when timed correctly.

Ø      Using the succubus against a melee class will give you another stun that can allow you time to burn down or escape your enemy.

Ø      Switching between Fel Armor and Demon Armor can change a fight. If you anticipate heavy incoming damage then switching to Demon Armor and mitigate a portion of the damage and keep you in a fight. At the same time, if you anticipate the opportunity to put out heavy damage, then Fel Armor can return a good amount of health.

Ø      In addition to Demon Armor, you can Soulburn – Summon Voidwalker – Sacrifice to get an additional shield for maximum mitigation when anticipating heavy incoming damage.

Ø      If you have to face an incoming zerg, then start the fight with a well placed SoC (seed of corruption)

Ø      For an infinite amount of soul shards, use ability to finish off your opponent and refund missing soul shards.

Ø      Use your soul stone at the beginning of the BG. You may find that the ability to combat-rez will give your team the advantage in a close fight.

Ø      In WSG, for a fast flag capture (in the enemy base) – use the upper right entrance that takes you to the 2nd floor ledge that overlooks the flag room (not all the way on top, the ledge is still inside). Setup your Demonic Circle Teleport in the room just outside of the ledge (see picture). Then jump down off the ledge, grab the flag and hit your teleport. This works well if the enemy team is trying to turtle – in their own flag room. The enemy team will have to play catch up (even if they know where you are teleporting), but a lot of the time they won’t know where you went for a few seconds. For best results, have a melee class stay where the teleport is – so you can quickly swap the flag to the melee player and then run support (you are squishy – best to have a warrior or DK carry the flag).

Ø      Also in WSG, if you are on defense (in your own flag room) setup your teleport on the 2nd floor ledge and stay down on the main floor. This is a good way to create distance and get into a position that allows you to stand still and pump out damage.

Ø      Also in WSG, if you are on defense (in your own flag room) setup your teleport outside of the main room as close as you can to the outside exit (door). If the enemy flag carrier does escape the main flag room, you can teleport out and have a head start on catching up with them.

Ø      In EOTS, if you are guarding a base, setup your teleport behind the building, or at the bottom (just down from the back/side of the building). This will allow you to teleport out of LOS and leave combat – so you can Soul Harvest / bandage if you need to heal.

Ø      In EOTS, if you are affliction, sneaking behind a base and putting up DOT’s on the enemy can be a great way of causing confusion as they cannot see where the damage is coming from. Remember to not throw any spells that have a casting animation (i.e. Shadowbolt) as this will give away your location.

Ø      In EOTS, you can setup your teleport near the edge and when being chased, jump off the edge and teleport back up. If your opponent is not paying attention, they will fall to their death.

Ø      In AV you can recap a tower that is weakly guarded (1 or 2 ppl) by fearing them. They will usually run out of the tower and around the ledge – and you should have time to recap the flag. NOTE: You may need to re-fear immediately if the initial fear is broken (via trinket or whatever)

Ø      In AB, if you are defending the lumber mill, setup your teleport (somewhere near you and the edge) in case you get blown off the edge you can quickly teleport back up and not fall to your death.

Ø      In SOTA, on offense always ride on a siege and spam all CC abilities to keep the enemies off your siege. Ride / do not drive the siege.
